I had been struggling a lot with bringing together a gift for my Dad this Father’s Day, as mentioned in a previous post.
I ended up settling on a gift of a letter, from our yet-to-be-born child, which I have included below.
Dear Bestefar,
We haven’t met yet, but I wanted to write you a short letter today.
I know Mommy & Daddy are excited to meet me, and they keep talking to me about a lot of stuff. Most of the time I am too sleepy to pay too much attention to what they are saying, so I don’t normally know what they are talking about, but they did tell me that we were all celebrating Father’s Day today.
When they told me about that I was so excited, and I started to think about what I wanted to do. I was going to sit down and send you an email, however I overheard Daddy joking with Mommy about email, and something about whether you would read it or not, so I thought I would write this letter instead. I made Daddy promise that he would give this to you.
I know Daddy was having a hard time figuring out what sort of gift to find this year, I’m not sure why – he didn’t tell me. Cali whispered to me the other day that we should get you a box of cookies, which sounded like a great idea to me! From what Mommy has said, Cali can’t have my cookies, so I don’t know why Cali was so excited…
Anyways, I know Mommy & Daddy have been talking about names a lot, and they’ve told me they finished choosing my name, but that they don’t know which one it is yet. Apparently they don’t know if I’m a boy or a girl, which doesn’t make any sense to me. How could they not know such a thing? I mean, isn’t it pretty obvious…??? Oh well…I’ll have to talk to them about this at some point…
So, I thought my Father’s Day gift to you, could be something that I know is a surprise, and is something I know you wouldn’t be able to guess! Quite simply it is this letter, along with their list of names they have chosen for me. I don’t think its normal for Mommies and Daddies to share names like this ahead of time, but Mommy and Daddy have told me they don’t always do thing the ‘normal’ way, so I think it is fitting that I share with you these names they have chosen as possible names for me.
So, that’s about it. I’m going to have a nap now, because Mommy just finished having breakfast, and oh boy was it good, so now I’m tired.
